embark on the path to self discovery and healing

culturally affirming, client-centered psychotherapy for individuals in California

let’s be real —

the last few years have been HARD with the global pandemic that appears never ending. A pandemic that has directly impacted or even upended our feelings of safety (physically, emotionally, racially), our connections with others, and simply life as we know it. In this time of heightened stress and change, our usual coping mechanisms may no longer suffice, leaving us feeling like we’re constantly in survival mode, just trying to make it through another day. My goal as a therapist is to support clients not just survive, but thrive.

my approach to healing:

integrates strengths-based, trauma-informed, client-centered, and intersectional perspectives, as well as my lived experience as the eldest daughter of Chinese American immigrants. By offering warmth, humor, and curiosity, I strive to create a space where clients feel comfortable expressing their emotions authentically, exploring their inner selves, developing self-awareness, and pursuing personal growth. I also help them understand how their lives are influenced by broader systems of oppression. As clients release unhelpful patterns of thinking, coping mechanisms, and beliefs, they can cultivate greater self-compassion, abundance, ease, and freedom.

  • Therapy for Children of Asian American Immigrants

I empathize deeply with the unique experiences of children of immigrants. Striving to live up to parental expectations for all that they have sacrificed for us. Struggling with our identity, feeling not quite [fill-in-the-identity] enough. Navigating the complexities of various cultural norms and values. Addressing the shadows of intergenerational trauma. Battling the incessant inner critic that demands perfection, relentless effort, and the prioritization of others' needs over our own. Attempting to forge connections and effective communication with parents and elders. Juggling the added responsibilities as the family's interpreter, caregiver, or even unofficial therapist. I specialize in helping children of immigrants confront and ease these challenges.

I see you, I understand you, and I can support you.

  • Therapy for Empaths, Neurodivergent Folks

You often feel emotionally exhausted and overwhelmed. You experience others’ feelings without warning. You’re often moved by a touching scene in a movie. You are easily bothered by fine sensory details that others don’t seem to notice: such as background sounds, the scratchy label on your shirt, or fluorescent lights. You were often told that you’re “too sensitive.”

If you identified with some of these statements, you might be neurodivergent or an empath and experience the world through a lens that many people do not. This can be both a powerful gift AND a source of intense emotional exhaustion. As someone who navigates these experiences myself, I can work with you to find the right balance between offering support to others and establishing boundaries that protect your personal well-being. By understanding your emotional responses and sensitivities, we can craft strategies to both manage and celebrate these qualities.

  • Therapy for Adolescents, Teens, and Families

The pandemic has been tough, especially for kids and teens, who might struggle more in silence. A supportive therapist can create a safe space for them to open up about things they're hesitant to discuss with parents. Therapy can teach them how to cope and communicate better, dealing with issues like depression, anxiety, ADHD, relationship difficulties, transitions in life, self-esteem concerns, and more. As a therapist with extensive experience serving in all grade leveIs, I can help your child navigate these challenges and support you in improving your parenting skills. As a therapist for both children and parents, I can help you better understand your child and become an even better parent. We can work together as a family to tackle what's not working. If you see your child struggling, reaching out for help can make a difference.

I am here and ready to help.
